Executive MBA Forensique

The Executive MBA in forensics

The MBA in forensics is a high-level academic training programme provided by the Pôle Judiciaire de la Gendarmerie Nationale (PJGN), the Gendarmerie’s criminal centre, in conjunction with academic partners specialising in forensics, management, finance, law and digital technology. It is also the first MBA in the world dedicated to forensic science management.

The MBA opens its doors every two years and offers an 18 weeks programme, spread over 18 months with one week of 4 days maximum per month. It is based on renowned teaching staff of academics and professionals, lectures by high-level scientists, experience sharing between students from different backgrounds, as well as visits illustrating forensic science or its environment.

The language used will be French, but a good command of English is necessary, both to study the published bibliography and to understand the lectures given by non-French speakers.

Continuous assessment throughout the programme is ensured through individual and group work, as well as the writing and defence of a thesis.

The objectives of the programme

We will open the debate on this science offering a historical, social and epistemological reflection on the reconstruction of past events through their present impact and the traces they have left behind. How to interpret this unobserved singularity?

What do natural sciences contribute to the humanities facing this challenge? Forensics, the science of traces that are of security or judicial interest, offers a logical and rational understanding of the reconstruction of causes in a scientific approach, being necessarily interdisciplinary as the trace can be chemical, biological, physical, digital or material, latent or provoked, both in the investigation and in the intelligence. This requires smart managers.

Graduates of the MBA will have a sound knowledge of forensic science and its state of the art and will be able to explain its application in their field of activity,  be skilled to integrate the trace in the development of intelligence on the criminal environment and its evolution, know how to apply management skills useful in forensic science and the leadership of scientific experts, be able to question the peculiarities of the digital environment, a rapidly expanding area in forensic science, have a sound understanding of the specific environment of a forensic service (laws and regulations, quality, ethics etc.) and be skilled to reason logically about the reconstruction of a singular past event from the traces left behind.
